Chemical Peels/PRP

When it comes to smoothing away fine lines and wrinkles there are many options on the market these days. One of the most tried-and-true cosmetic treatments we offer here at our Maricopa, AZ, medispa is chemical peels. If you’re looking to rejuvenate your appearance while also targeting certain discolorations and other imperfections, you could be an ideal candidate for a chemical peel.

What Is A Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel involves applying a special chemical solution over the skin, which removes the outermost damaged layer of skin to reveal healthy new skin underneath. A chemical peel ranges in strength from superficial to deep, and the type that we recommend will depend on the severity of the issues you’re looking to address with this cosmetic treatment.

What Skin Problems Can Chemical Peels Correct?

A chemical peel continues to be a popular way to improve and rejuvenate skin’s appearance because this simple procedure can be used to:

  • Minimize the appearance of acne scars and other superficial scars
  • Fade age spots, melasma, and other hyperpigmentation
  • Firm and tighten sagging skin
  • Improve sun-damaged and aging skin
  • Slightly reduce wrinkles and fine lines

What Should You Expect From A Chemical Peel?

When you come into our medical office, for your consultation, we will discuss your cosmetic concerns and needs to determine which type of chemical peel is ideal for you. While chemical peels are most often performed on the face, they can also treat the neck, chest, and hands.

Most superficial chemical peels use a light exfoliating acid such as alpha-hydroxy acids, while a medium peel will use glycolic acid or trichloroacetic acid, which works deeper in the skin to target and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as discolorations.

Deeper chemical peels may also use a trichloroacetic acid or phenol acid to target deeper layers of skin to treat more moderate wrinkles and lines, as well as darker age spots. Since deeper chemical peels penetrate deeper into the skin this also offers the greatest improvement to the skin’s appearance.

The procedure itself can take as little as 30 minutes for light chemical peels, while deeper chemical peels can take up to 90 minutes. Depending on the intensity of your chemical peel, recovery time can take as little as a few days and up to 2-3 weeks, with deeper chemical peels.
